OUR
HISTORY
The African American Network Community Association (AANCA) began with a concept. This concept was based upon community empowerment that involved not only economic empowerment but social, as well.
AANCA began in a neighborhood barber shop with men of color deliberating on the problems in the community and what could be done about our problems and the basis for social and economic stability and growth. AANCA responded by coordinating a meeting of individuals in the community on May 21, 1992. The meeting consisted of community leaders such as mayors, directors, superintendents of schools, Internal Affairs, Prince Georges County Police Department, the Nation of Islam, and other concerned citizens with the intention of beginning a process of resolving some of the communities' problems. An agenda was established by a Board of 13 concerned citizens to address the issues brought forth in the meeting.
The concept that AANCA has employed since day one is that it takes an entire community to raise a child, including as people of color we can and do work together as a people. AANCA has been able to work on the unification of families by providing employment.

The African American Network Community Association (AANCA) is a social and economical communication forum that allows consumers to network with small businesses, government agencies, and the private sector.

With the growing need to systematically network skills, experiences, knowledge and resources, the African American Network Community Association takes pride in being able to provide the community with a forum for helping to propel the communities across America into the 21st century.

AANCA is empowerment to communities, to businesses, to families, to oneself, and an opportunity to bring your ideas and interests to the marketplace, as well as being an enrichment vehicle for the 21st century.

AANCA believes it is not always what you know but sometimes who you know.

May peace and prosperity be upon you and yours in all of your endeavors.

Sincerely,
Theodore R. Megginson
